Running to change how Salt Spring does local government
-
Why I'm running
I’m running for CRD Director because I know local government on Salt Spring can be better coordinated, more open and responsive. Creating our Local Community Commission was a good first step, but it’s time to finish the job, breaking down decision-making siloes and getting the best possible value for every tax dollar.
-
Who I am
I’m an organic orchardist/ farmer and small business owner who has lived on Salt Spring since 2011. In my previous life, I worked as a freelance writer, editor and communications consultant. I’ve been working for nearly a decade to change local government on Salt Spring for the better, the last three years as a member of Salt Spring’s first Local Community Commission (LCC).
-
What I can offer
If you elect me as CRD Director, I will bring to the position my experience, knowledge, energy and values. I know how local government works and how we can do better on Salt Spring. I want to work with our LCC to bring positive change for our community. Essentially, I’m offering a two-for-one deal: extensive knowledge and experience plus a strong voice for change.
Ready to get down to work.
Our community faces serious challenges and we need a CRD Director who’s strongly focused on addressing them. This means working collaboratively with the LCC here on the island while also speaking up for Salt Spring on the CRD Board.
